The Actors File was founded in 1983 by five actors who believed performers deserved something different — representation that was collaborative, transparent, and genuinely invested in their careers. We were among the first co-operative agencies in Britain, and that pioneering spirit still drives everything we do.
Two of our five founders, Vivienne Moore and Stephen Ley, remained with us until their deaths in 2024 and 2026— dedicating their entire careers to the agency they helped create. We are enormously proud to carry their legacy forward.
Why a co-operative?
When your agents are also working actors, everything changes. We understand auditions, dry spells, breakthroughs, and the industry's rhythms — because we live them too. It makes us proactive and committed agents - and better actors too.
